Vice-Principal Equality and Diversity

Vice Principal E&D Professor Jane Norman devotes on average, one third of her working time to Vice Principal duties working with all to ensure that the University’s equality and diversity strategic priorities are implemented.

In particular ensuring that the University’s commitment to mainstreaming remains central to implementation, and monitoring progress on University strategy and action in the area of equality and diversity.

Policy and support

The E&D unit provides practical action, to lead and support the development of the University’s primary E&D policies in the context of the University's E&D framework.

We provide expert support to those with responsibilities for specific policies.

We monitor and report on the University’s progress with its equality and diversity agenda in the context of future legislative and good practice developments.

We network and manage relationships across and external to the University to investigate best practice and raise the profile of the University and of diversity as part of the corporate plan.

Strategy and Outcomes

The Equality and Diversity Strategy, Outcomes and Action Plan and how the University vision is a continuing commitment to equality and diversity for both students and staff.

This is a single equality strategy to ensure that equality and diversity are guiding principles in our pursuit of academic excellence. Its introduction coincides with the implementation of the Equality Act 2010 and builds on its principle of integrating equality and diversity in policy and practice.
